Rain could not stop the Osmosis disciples from celebrating the event's 10th anniversary at the Stables, Caymanas, last Saturday night.
A large number of patrons were caught sheltering from the rain at about 1 a.m. under tents at the venue. They used the time to socialise and eat the delicious food provided by some of Kingston's best restaurants. There was also an abundance of liquor as there were bars all around the venue.
Luckily, the showers did not last and soon the party was in full gear. DJ Rush aided the process by thrilling the audience with many hip-hop and dancehall songs from the 1990s.
Renaissance joined in with alternative songs, such as Lady Gaga's Poker Face, Akon's So Beautiful and Kid Cudi's Day and Night.
Spacious venue
The venue was spacious and there were multiple dance floors and areas to lounge. However, The Stables was too rocky for heels and, as a result, some women had difficulty walking. But that did not stop them from dancing.
By the look on their faces, Don Creary and Patrice McHugh, managing director of Bars to Go, are having a ball at Osmosis 10th Anniversary Party, held at Caymanas Stables last Saturday.
Liquid kicked the party up a notch with Knock You Down by Keri Hilson and Jamie Foxx's Blame It, which was very appropriate at this time as many patrons were highly intoxicated. Vybz Kartel and Spice's Rampin' Shop provided the first set of intense gyrating.
With everyone still in Michael Jackson fever, his songs such as They Don't Care About Us and Rock My World were quite appropriate and thoroughly enjoyed.
There was some more early '90s songs and disco music but there was a certain level of intensity with suggestive songs like Mavado's Neva Believe Yuh and High Unda and RDX's Bend Over. Afterwards, there was another dose of Michael Jackson.
Osmosis didn't start out as a 'banging' party but by the end of the night, the patrons were dancing to every song thrown at them.
By 5:30 a.m., people were leaving with breakfast of ackee and saltfish, dumplings and ripe plantains in hand. At this time, music was still pumping in the venue.
