NOTE-WORTHY

Justice delayed in Grand Turk

I am a Jamaican citizen who filed a lawsuit against the Turks and Caicos Police Department in 2007 as a result of acts of injustice meted out to me and my family whilst living and working in that country.

This matter has gone through the Supreme Court successfully unchallenged to the point where a default judgement was issued in September 2008 and since then nothing has happened. Everything is being blamed on last year's hurricane which passed over the islands. I am wondering if something fishy is going on. I would like this letter to be published so that the chief justice in that country may intervene as corruption investigations have been conducted during the past year to the highest level and I would not like to become a victim by anyone in this civil matter - Case No CL91/07 in the Grand Turk Supreme Court.

Push for lower SLB rates

I am a prospective applicant to the Student Loan Bureau and would like to know how I can assist in getting the SLB to reduce its interest rates on funds borrowed by poor and needy students like me. I think the interest rates charged should be based on an average of the rates that are existing in the three developing countries (Canada, the United States of America and the United Kingdom). This would be more practical because students' loans are supposed to help needy and poor students get a college or university education.

'Browning' term came from Hitler?

Over the years of visiting Jamaica, I constantly heard the men referring to their favourite choice of girls as the 'browning' type. I have always wondered who originally came up with this term?

During the early 1970s, while I was in school, that term did not exist in the vocabulary of Jamaicans.

I was totally flabbergasted to finally came across 'Brown Sisters' aka 'Browning' a term Hitler supposedly coined to describe the Aryan women who appeared to be pure-blooded German.

So sisters, the next time a brother refers to you as a 'browning' remember who first coined the phase and tell him, he has a Hitler mentality.
