Luau at the Oasis

Boon Hall Oasis in cool Stony Hill, St Andrew, is the perfect location for any tropical-themed event. And on Saturday, June 27, it was just what the party doctor ordered for Scotiabank's luau for customers, clients and other special guests.

Grass-skirted hostesses greeted guests upon arrival. Their colourful ensemble was completed with leis and floral hair ornaments. The décor on the lush grounds of Boon Hall Oasis included pretty pastel umbrellas, sculptures and paintings. Food stations for every conceivable heart's desire were scattered strategically over the venue.

Fun and games were coordinated by the ebullient Denise Hunt who had everyone scurrying about to find hidden treasure or generally make fools of themselves. Those who preferred more sedate activity could opt for a massage by the river or laze in oversized sofas in the shade.

But the most irresistible feature of the package was the well-researched menu of items prepared by caterer extraordinaire, Lorraine Fung, and her team. Some of the authentic and fusion dishes included Hawaiian coleslaw, volcano shrimp, coconut-crusted shrimp, char sui pork ribs and huli huli chicken. The roast suckling pig was presented to guests in a special Hawaiian ceremony complete with dancing girls.
