WESTERN BUREAU:

An autopsy report has listed heatstroke as the cause of death for five-year-old Lennon Lloyd Edwards, who died after reportedly being left unattended in his parents' locked car in Lucea, Hanover, on Tuesday afternoon.

Government pathologist Dr Murari Saranji did the autopsy yesterday at Doyley's Funeral Home in Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland.

"The (autopsy) report states that the boy could have been in the vehicle for more than two hours," a police source informed The Gleaner.

The boy's father, Easton Edwards, the Jamaica Labour Party councillor for the Lucea division, has been in police custody since Tuesday night. No formal charges have been levelled against him.
