Ivanovic ready for Williams

The spinning fist pumps returned as former No. 1 Ana Ivanovic continued her roll at Wimbledon, which could be a problem for five-time champion Venus Williams.

Serbian Ivanovic advanced to the fourth round by beating Australian Samantha Stosur 7-5, 6-2 on Saturday. Up next is a showdown against Williams today.

Injuries sent Ivanovic into a slump after she won the 2008 French Open. She's without a title this year and seeded only 13th. But she saved two match points in her first-round win over Lucie Hradecka, and she has won six sets in a row.

"To come back and win another couple of matches and play better each match, it definitely gives me confidence," Ivanovic said.

More experienced

"My game is probably even better than it was (at the 2008 French)," said Ivanovic, 21. "I feel also much more experienced and much more mature in some way. I went through a lot over past year, being No. 1, having some disappointing losses and some tough times. That made me stronger."

The match against Williams will test her progress. American Williams, who advanced by defeating Spain's Carla Suarez Navarro 6-0, 6-4, is trying to become the first woman since Steffi Graf in 1991-93 to win three Wimbledon titles in a row.

"She's very dangerous opponent, but I have a great chance, and I feel very comfortable going into that match," Ivanovic said. "I'm very excited."

Against Stosur, a semi-finalist at the French Open, Ivanovic committed only nine unforced errors to go with 21 winners. Stosur saved a match point when trailing 5-2, but Ivanovic wrapped it up in the next game with a service winner.
