Bank on Cougway tomorrow

With QUERIDA (19-1) and COURT YARD (13-1) scoring notable upsets at Caymanas Park on Wednesday, the Pick-9 had no takers.

The Pick-9, from race three to 11, offers a $1 million carryover, while the Super-6 which was caught by 104 punters, each receiving $14,303.00, starts anew in the sixth race with the guaranteed minimum of $750,000.

We look at the Super-6 which commences in race six with Division I of a three-year-old maiden condition race to be contested by 13 starters over 1300 metres.

Included in the line-up are ONELITTLEWISH under leading jockey Dane Nelson, ALLTHEBEST, RUM DEAL, ESTO PERPETUA and ALLORA, the group from which the winner should emerge.

RUM DEAL, who hails from the stables of 14-time champion trainer Philip Feanny, ran well over 1400 metres on May 23 when finishing 21/2 lengths third to MYA'S GIRL.

With MYA'S GIRL coming back to finish a close second to COURT YARD in better company on Wednesday and the runner-up RUNNING LOOSE also boosting the form by winning next time out, this speaks volumes for the chances of RUM DEAL (Ian Spence up), who has worked well coming into this race.

Seventh race

The Anthony Nunes-trained ALLORA has also looked the part at exercise, galloping 51/2 furlongs in 1:08.3, the last five in 1:02.0 last Sunday morning. This lightly raced filly by He'sthertealthing out of Deputy Darlin should find the distance just perfect and, with the visor now fitted, is preferred to RUM DEAL and ALLTHEBEST, who was not beaten far by MYA'S GIRL on May 23.

THE SMOKER, now down from high claiming to $295,000 in the seventh race over 1500 metres, gets the nod over MAGNIFICO and LATIN KING in the seventh race over in which 11 will run.

One of the more open races on the card is the eighth over the straight five course for open allowance horses. It has attracted 10 starters and, with most having sound claims, this one should go down to the wire.

Course specialist

The main hopefuls are down-in-class ENGLISH STORM, who finished a close fifth to AHWHOFAH in the recent UBA Sprint (grade one) over 1300 metres, as well as LITTLE WASP, WHEEL N DEAL, MINISTEROFJUSTICE and the profound course specialist HIGH ROLLER, who steps up in class with a light impost after his decisive victory over same on May 9.

In a race where Pick-9 and Super-6 players should go for multiple choices, LITTLE WASP, to be ridden by champion jockey Omar Walker for top trainer Wayne DaCosta, gets the nod on the strength of his close fourth to disqualified winner TOBAGO in a fast-run 1300-metre race last Saturday. The consistent American filly should win from WHEEL N DEAL and MINISTEROFJUSTICE.

Briefly, COUGWAY, who was a fast-finishing fourth to HE'S REALLY OK in the recent UBA Derby, gets the nod over KOKOPELLI CAT (working well) and ANASTASIA in the ninth race over 1820 metres for three-year-olds (non-winners of two).

Then take MR BLAIR (working well) to lead home FIRST LADY and SHE'S OUTRAGEOUS in the very knotty 10th race for the LC McKenzie Memorial Trophy over 1400 metres, before closing off with the useful ORION in the nightpan.
