Wynlee cleans up Excelsior
Yesterday, Wynlee Distributors presented Excelsior High School with $250,000 worth of equipment to maintain the campus grounds as part of an outreach programme.

For the last month, the company had been installing directional signs on the buildings, and painting garbage drums in the school colours. The garbage bags and materials to aid in the upkeep of campus were also gifts.

Winsome Halliman, who was in charge of the initiative, says that they chose to donate to Excelsior because many of their employees were alumni of the school.

"It felt only right to include them in our efforts in the community," said Halliman.

Deanroy Bromfield, principal of Excelsior, was thrilled at the changes.

"The problem had not reached the extent where it was negatively affecting the students' immediate working environment," he explained.

"But it would have reached that stage if nothing had been done. The system in place for removing garbage needs to be changed. But, especially now, at the end of the school year, funding is limited," he added.

Describing the reaction of the students, he said, "They're very appreciative. They recognise the importance of maintaining their school."

"As we celebrate 80 years at the company, we are happy to be able to give back to the community. We are glad to be able to help a school like Excelsior which has been serving for 75 years. The fact that we can contribute to our children is excellent," said Halliman.
