Jamaica importing patties?
The Editor, Sir:

I'm convinced we've lost it. We have several companies making and distributing patties in Jamaica and we want to import more, especially in these hard times when we should be trying to export more of our own products.

Specifically, a product we are known for worldwide. It's like Trinidad importing gas or pitch or Barbados importing flying fish. I think we should seriously reconsider this.

I live in Trinidad and they have frozen 'cocktail patties' selling in the supermarkets, which Trinidadians keep telling me taste so good.

Being desperate to 'eat a patty', I made the grave mistake of trying one. Needless to say, I threw away the entire box. But finally, Tastee pasties are now available in Trinidad. Jamaicans here are so happy for that.

I am, etc.,

P.M.
