Publisher and editor of the Western Mirror, Lloyd B. Smith, was employed to Kingston Publishers in 1975 when a young Michael Jackson and The Jackson Five performed at the National Stadium in Jamaica.

He stayed at the then Sheraton Kingston hotel with a large entourage that included his nanny and tutors.

Smith told The Gleaner: "There was a lot of hype surrounding The Jackson Five's performance. They delighted the audience but they did not remain long on the stage that was set up in the middle of the field. I was lucky enough to be in one of the rows close to the stage. I guess now we are all part of that history."
