Jamaican racing men Wesley Henry and Jose Pinchin shared four wins in Calder horse racing this past weekend.
Jockey Henry, a Top-10 rider here, scored two wins on Saturday and trainer Pinchin had single victories back-to-back racedays Saturday and Sunday to jump into the Top-10 list of trainers at the popular Miami racetrack. Henry's double kept him among the top five riders here.
On Saturday, Henry narrowly won the US$10,000 first race over a mile and 70 yards with the favourite Welcome Back. Coming from behind, the 3-to-2 choice Welcome Back finished fast and snatched victory in the final strides by a head in one minute 48.29 seconds.
Stirring ride
The former Jamaica champion jockey executed another stirring come-from-behind ride to complete his double in a huge upset with the four-year-old filly Aneesa Dancer in the seventh race over 1-1/16th miles.
At 45-1 in the batting, the longest odds in the eight-horse field, Aneesa Dancer left the backstretch in seventh position and gained steadily - saving ground on the inside - entering the final turn of the US$12,500 event.
