Former Cash Plus boss Carlos Hill avoided eviction yesterday when he moved out of the the upscale St Andrew home he had been ordered by the Supreme Court to vacate by Tuesday.

Hill left the East Armour Heights residence early yesterday morning, shortly before personnel from the Office of the Trustee in Bankruptcy arrived at the premises.

The Office of the Trustee in Bankruptcy is a division of the Ministry of Justice which deals with bankruptcy issues as well as court orders for removal.

On the arrival of the liquidation personnel, Hill's belongings were already being removed by men who were believed to be working for the former Cash Plus head.

Among the items being taken away in at least three trucks were beds, television sets, computers, bottles of whisky and books.

Interesting literature

Hill

What held the attention of many were two books entitled License to Steal and Praise for Greed Incorporated.

A few persons who said their funds had not being accounted for were also on the scene, uttering their disgust at the manner in which Cash Plus had come to an end.

While the removal was taking place, the police were on hand to keep the peace.

Earlier this year, the Supreme Court ordered Hill to move out of the house by the end of May.

On the day he was to move out, Hill was granted a 14-day extension that expired on Tuesday.

Attorney-at-law Hugh Wildman is the trustee in bankruptcy and provisional liquidator for Cash Plus.

Hill has been charged under the Larceny Act with four counts of fraudulent conversion and four counts of obtaining money by false pretence. His brother, Bertram, and former Cash Plus chief financial officer, Peter Wilson, are both charged with one count of conspiracy to defraud.

Their trial is scheduled to begin on July 28.
