Your eyes are going be more than 'windows to your soul' after a long night of partying with your friends. But there are a number of ways you can rebound from last night's session without spilling the beans to your co-workers. Whether you call it bags, dark circles, puffs or just redness, we've all experienced it. Luckily, there's no need to just cover up the problem with make-up or shades.
Saturday Life gives you a few easy remedies to help you beat the under-eye bulge and quickly too!
Black-tea bags contain caffeine - a stimulant - and a chemical called tannin which both have the ability to reduce swelling and discolouration as well as tighten the skin, improving the appearance of puffiness. Moisten and cool the tea bags and place over the eyes for about 15 minutes.
A major cause of dark circles and bags is the loss of skin elasticity. Cold temperatures encourage the tightening of the skin around the eyes so try wrapping ice cubes in a washcloth or placing metal spoons in the freezer and then placing them on the affected area for a few minutes.
Haemorrhoid cream may not be the most appealing method through which you can reduce the appearance of bags under the eyes but the chemical phenylephrine found in this cream constricts the blood vessels reducing redness and swelling. Be warned, however, that this is not the primary use of haemorrhoid cream so use sparingly and with caution.
Vitamin K helps the blood to clot and reverses the effects of skin discolouration which is often caused by fluid build-up and poor drainage.
Excess salt intake leads to swelling so increase your water intake. Getting enough sleep also seems to be a key factor in reducing the occurrence of under-eye puffiness.
Repetitive rubbing of your eyes can change the shape of your eye region and even cause small blood vessels under the skin to burst causing dark circles, puffiness and swelling.
