Sleeping koala

Three women found a koala asleep in their Australian hotel bed.

In what has been dubbed 'a reverse version of Goldilocks and the three bears the children's story where a girl invades a bear family's house and sleeps in their room - the animal had wandered into their holiday apartment and tested out each of the beds before dozing on its favourite.

The women had previously spotted the creature in a tree outside their suite and took lots of photographs.

However, they were so shocked at discovering the snoozing animal they called local wildlife ranger Cliff Harman.

He organised a group of Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service rangers who caught the koala and released it back into the wild.

Smotherer acquitted

A British woman has been cleared of attempted murder because she was sleepwalking. Donna Sheppard-Saunders, 33, allegedly tried to kill her 54-year-old mother Pamela Sheppard in their joint bedroom by smothering her with a pillow.

However, the judge directed the jury to acquit Sheppard-Saunders because there was lack of evidence.

Lewes Crown Court heard how Sheppard thought she was having a nightmare when she woke to finds her daughter holding a pillow over her face.

Sheppard-Saunders has always maintained she had no recollection of the incident.

Her father, Kenneth Sheppard, told the court she had a history of sleepwalking and he occasionally found her in the lavatory or on the landing after having put her to bed.
