Shiv moves ahead of Gayle

Gayle ... now No.3.

LONDON, England (CMC):

West Indies batting star Shivnarine Chanderpaul made a slight gain to No.2 this week in the one-day international (ODI) cricket ratings, trading places with his captain Chris Gayle.

In the latest Reliance Mobile ICC Player Rankings released yesterday, Mahendra Singh Dhoni retained the No.1 spot after the West Indies stars Gayle and Chanderpaul had tame outings in the NatWest series against England - that ended Tuesday - and failed to unseat the India captain.

Gayle went into the NatWest series trailing Dhoni by just 33 ratings points but after managing just 42 runs in the series, the Jamaican has dropped one place to third.

Batting ratings climbed

Chanderpaul, who is ranked fourth in the Test cricket batting ratings, climbed from third to second on the ODI list after scores of 27 and 68 in the Caribbean side's 0-2 series loss to the English.

The only other West Indies player among the Top-20 batsmen is Ramnaresh Sarwan, who slipped three places to No.19.

Gayle is ninth-ranked on the all-rounders' list that is headed by Shakib Al Hasan of Bangladesh, over England's Andrew Flintoff and India's Yuvraj Singh.

Jerome Taylor at 14th and Daren Powell (No.20) are the only West Indians among the Top-20 bowlers, headed by Sri Lanka's Nuwan Kulasekara.
