The hospital formed one of six National Labour Day projects islandwide.
"The turnout has been great and we are very appreciative. The health-care delivery, the patients, the staff will be very appreciative for what is happening here today," Jarrett told The Gleaner.
Scores of persons representing various groups, along with individuals, turned out in large numbers to work at the regional hospital, painting buildings, sidewalks, kerb walls and other activities.
Member of Parliament for North East St Ann, Shahine Robinson, hailed the day as a success, citing the high turnout of volunteers for the project.
"It has been a success - the turnout has been phenomenal, there are a lot of volunteers and the spirit has been great. People have come from Dunnsville, Lime Hall, St Ann's Bay, Mile End, Windsor, Ocho Rios, Priory, Pineapple, all the communities in the consti-tuency," Robinson said.
The hospital also received two new water coolers, one of which was installed at the X-ray department and the other at the pharmacy.
