In a statement issued yesterday, the MAJ said it joined working journalists in expressing sympathies to their colleague reporter who is now recuperating in hospital.

"This is a grim reminder to us who facilitate and report the news that we are not immune to the ills of our society and, as we present information on what is happening around us, we must also take note of the need to ourselves be careful," the MAJ said.
