Defending champions Jamalco and Tivoli Gardens booked their places in the semi-finals of the Jamaica Netball Association (JNA)/Berger Paints Super League competition, following quarter-final victories over Jetsetters 'A' and Speg 'A' respectively at the Leila Robinson Courts yesterday.
Jamalco, who are seeking their seventh hold on the trophy, thrashed Jetsetters 'A' 81-37. Tivoli Gardens, who last won the trophy, in 1998, defeated Speg 'A' 44-30. Former national representative, Cleopatra Grant, led the way for Tivoli Gardens 'A' with 24 goals from 31 attempts. She received support from Jodi-Ann Ffrench, who sank 13 goals from 18 tries.
Satisfied
National Under-16 representative Deneen Taylor, 20 goals from 29 attempts, and Crystal Grant, 10 goals from 14 tries, were the scorers for Speg 'A'.
Sylvester Campbell, coach of Tivoli Gardens, said he was satisfied with his team's efforts.
"I am very pleased with how we played because we won the match. We also tried different combinations to see what is best for us going into the semi-finals and they worked out successfully for us," said Campbell.
Jamalco, led by Elaine Davis' game-high 57 goals from 66 attempts, dominated the match from the opening whistle as they eased to a comfortable 46-12 lead at half-time.
Solid support
Davis received solid support from captain Marsha Murphy, who sank 21 goals from 23 tries as they lead 61-23, at the end of the third quarter.
National Under-21 players Crystal Gordon with 26 goals from 28 attempts and Antoinette Gray, nine goals from 14 attempts, were the scorers for Jetsetters 'A.'
Murphy said she was delighted with her team's performance.
"Our game plan was to score 80 goals and we got 82 and so we are pleased with ourselves," said Murphy.
"It wasn't a competitive game but I think that we played well, our defending was good because we capitalised on a lot of Jetsetters' turnovers," Murphy added.
