Tigers ward off Buccaneers
Jermaine Lannaman, Gleaner Writer

Trelawny Buccaneers' effort to record a come-from-behind outright win over Kingston Tigers in their two-day Jamaica SuperCricket League encounter at Sabina Park yesterday was thwarted by good, intelligent batting from Domain Wilson and Chadwick Walton.

The Buccaneers, after losing first innings by 66 runs, had the Tiger's 2-2 overnight but could not dislodge Walton or Wilson, who made 39 and 36, respectively, in quick enough time to make a serious run bid victory target and in the end they had to settle for a point from the drawn encounter.

The Tigers, who in gaining first innings pocketed three points, eventually made 154 in their second innings. Set 221 to win shortly before tea on what was still a good wicket for spin bowling, the Buccaneers reached 82-3 when stumps were drawn. Barbadian Ryan Hinds, 30 not out, led the way for the Buccaneers.

Earlier when the Tigers batted, Hinds took 3-51 with his left-arm orthodox spin, while there were two wickets each for pacer Oral Rankin and national youth player, John Campbell.

The result moved the Tigers to second in the standings on 14 points, four behind leaders Manchester Lions, who defeated St Elizabeth Warriors outright at Kirkvine Oval. Melbourne Kangaroos and champions St Catherine Saints, who recorded first innings points and a no-result, respectively, are tied with 12 points.
