The spanking Mitsubishi Evolution Six that is owned by Stewart Maloney, the region's top-rated circuit racing driver, arrived on the island last week for the first leg of the Caribbean Drivers' Championship next Monday at Dover Raceway, St Ann.
Hilary Jardine, president of the Jamaica Race Drivers Club (JRDC), said at least eight cars, four each from Barbados and the Cayman Islands, arrived on the island last week.
"The drivers should be coming in on Wednesday," said Jardine.
Among those scheduled to arrive from Barbados are the Maloneys - Stuart, Mark and Douglas - plus a motorcyclist, Brook Miller. Mark will be competing in a RX7 Mazda and Douglas in an Audi Quattro.
The Cayman team comprises Edward Hydes, with a Mitsubishi Evolution Three, Anthony Williams, who will be driving a Honda Civic, Kevin Johnson, a Mitsubishi Evolution Three, and Winston St Patrick Campbell, with a Nissan Skyline.
The Jamaican team will be selected from Doug Gore, Gary Williams, Guy Fraser, Christopher Campbell, Peter 'Bull' Thompson, Peter Rae and the former Caribbean champion driver, David Summerbell.
Meanwhile, the JRDC will recognise some of the stalwarts of circuit racing at a special function tonight as part of the celebrations to salute Dover's 20th anniversary.
The JRDC will also officially launch the Labour Day race meet, which has been dubbed the 'Caribbean Invasion'.
The Modified Production Class 2 and Improved Production 3 classes are again set to be run as separate divisions, similar to what was done at the Easter meet.
The JRDC has done significant renovation to the facility, plugging all loopholes which allowed 'hustlers' to beat the system at the last race meet.
Additional parking and security personnel have been doubled to address the flow of traffic.
