Letter of the Day - What does assault on crime mean?
The Editor, Sir: Omar Davis (not to be confused with the former finance minister) was killed in a police operation last Tuesday, two days after the newest minister of national security promised the newest assault on crime.

Unfortunate knee-jerk reaction
The Editor, Sir: It appears that the prime minister is leading us down a garden path which is not only expensive but also wrongly advised, and feels compelled to do it quickly.

Espeut's wound is self-inflicted
The Editor, Sir: I can't help but think that when so much effort and cleverness is spent defending yourself, more so against someone simply pointing out the obvious, that someone is trying too hard and shooting him or herself in the foot in doing so.
