Arnett rebound at Waterhouse
Keisha Hill, Staff Reporter

In a strident move to deliver on their promise to make it into the top three of the Digicel Premier League, Arnett Gardens rallied from a 2-1 defeat to Harbour View on Sunday to beat Waterhouse by a similar margin yesterday.

The Junglists have now moved to 56 points but are still in fourth place behind Boys' Town. Waterhouse complete the top six teams in the league, on 46.

Both teams delivered a lacklustre performance in the first half, with fairly good efforts from Ricardo Smith and Newton Sterling of Arnett Gardens.

Waterhouse, however, created more chances to score, but a superb performance from goalkeeper Julian McLeish kept them at bay.

Opportunity to dribble

The momentum increased in the second half as Kevin King gave Arnett Gardens the lead in the 60th minute. Richard McCallum, goalkeeper for Waterhouse, advanced for the ball but King used the opportunity to dribble around him and score.

Eight minutes later, Kwame Richardson scored the second goal for Arnett Gardens in the 68th minute.

Waterhouse's hopes were lifted in the 74th minute as Jermaine Fletcher scored the lone goal.

Paul Young, coach of Waterhouse, said: "We lost our discipline in the defensive part of the field in the second half and gave up two soft goals. We failed to convert our chances."

Arnett' coach Fabian Davis said: "We scored two goals this evening and the team has been doing very well. We are hunting for that top spot so hopefully we can finish the season in the top four."
