St rachel ustanny


They hardly leave the corridors of justice for a second. However, our guest editors are doing so now, to produce The Gleaner of Monday, May 18. It's a paper you cannot miss. St Rachel Ustanny is one of the guest editors.

St Rachel Ustanny is a social researcher, educator and human-rights advocate. She holds a master of science degree in gender and development studies, a double major bachelor of science degree in political science and international relations, and professional certificates in advocacy communications and video advocacy. Over the last 10 years, she has spent significant time studying international human rights principles, and professionalising social research and advocacy in Jamaica. Her areas of expertise are: community social intervention programming; HIV prevention advocacy; economic and social rights education, advocacy and research; and participatory governance programming. Ustanny is pursuing doctoral studies in educational leadership.

She is currently advocacy communications consultant on the HIV Prevention Advocacy Project of Jamaica Family Planning Association; and advocacy specialist and community educator on the Social and Economic Justice and Rights Project of Jamaicans for Justice.

In the past, she has served as member of the board of directors of the Creative Production and Training Centre (CPTC), April 2001- September 2002; and member of the HIV Vaccine Trials Community Advisory Board (CAB), January 2005- April 2008.
