Another triple for Maragh
ELMONT, New York (CMC):

Jamaican rider Rajiv Maragh continued his fine start to the Belmont Spring/Summer Meet with another triple triumph on Saturday afternoon.

Coming off a three-timer on Friday, the 23-year-old Maragh posted another flurry of winners Saturday by landing races two, four and seven and moved within one victory of the jockeys' lead.

He has 12 wins, seven in the last three racedays, to trail leader Jose Lezcano (13). Javier Castellano is third on six wins at the two-week-old meet.

Maragh, who had also scored a win on Thursday, captured the US$28,000 second race over six furlongs with the 2-to-1 bet Toque by 1-1/2 lengths.

Toque showed good speed to lead early and won ahead of the 9-1 outsider Heavenly Blaze in one minute 10.95 seconds.

Maragh also took the US$46,800 fourth race over 1-1/16th miles with the favourite Samhoon.

Coming from behind, Samhoon challenged for the lead - four wide - when the field straightened for the home stretch and won by 1-1/2 lengths in 1:41.48.

In the US$43,000 seventh race over six furlongs, Maragh steered the 3-2 favourite Cabaret Cowboy to victory by 4-3/4 lengths in 1:08.96.

Maragh, who had finished joint champion - with Alan Garcia - at the Aqueduct Fall Meet in December, was also prominent in Aqueduct's Winter/Sprint Meet that ended last month with him at No. 2 behind champion Ramon Dominguez.
