An appeal for Glendon Circle

The Editor, Sir:

I have been trying to get a small repair job done to the road on which I reside (Glendon Circle) and it has been like sending the fool a little further.

However, I am in very good company. I have appealed to the Office of the Prime Minister and someone called me and gave me the number for my Member of Parliament (MP). I spoke with my MP's secretary and she too has been trying to help and, like me, she has come upon the same roadblock, so we are all back at square one.

So now what do I do? Unfortunately I do not believe in roadblocks so my fate will be to sit back and watch this hole get larger and larger with each shower of rain and God forbid, since it is a bus route and there are no bus stops. When passengers indicate to the driver where they would like to get off, the bus has to swerve to avoid this hole and there is my house sitting right there so that if the driver loses control, I could very well end up with a bus crashing into my house and killing or maiming anyone sitting on the veranda. Need I say more?

Would someone from the National Works Agency tell me the procedure to be followed to get my road fixed? The irony of it all is that quite recently Hope Boulevard, which is near to me, was fixed and so workmen were in the area. In my mind, there could have been a great deal of savings had the crew been given instructions to not only fill the pothole in front of my house but also to continue around the bend and repair the rest of Glendon Circle, which I gather is in a very deplorable condition.

Will someone out there please help me and the rest of the citizens in the area who have to put up with bad road conditions?

I am, etc.,

BARBARA COVER
