Opposition Leader Portia Simpson Miller and Lorna Golding, wife of Prime Minister Bruce Golding, were among the throng of leaders who prayed for the nation at this year's National Leadership Prayer Breakfast, held at The Jamaica Pegasus hotel in New Kingston.
But what do they do for daily inspiration when the glare of cameras and public scrutiny are removed?
For Mrs Golding , it's the words of Psalms 51 verses 10-12. The King James Version reads:
Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy spirit.
Mrs Simpson Miller draws strength from the Book of Isaiah, chapter 40, verse 31:
For they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint.
