TWO BROTHERS and another man are dead as a result of a motor- vehicle accident along Norman Manley Boulevard in Negril at approximately 1:30 yesterday morning.
The dead persons are Kayon White, 22-year-old steel worker, his brother, Davon Downer, 19-year-old student, and Wayne Phillips 25-year-old of Negril. Both brothers were from Blenheim in Hanover.
The Green Island police say Phillips, who was driving a Toyota Corolla station wagon, was overtaking a red Toyota Levin when both cars collided. The driver of the Levin lost control and that vehicle crashed into bushes.
The Corolla collided head-on with a Honda motorbike on which the brothers were travelling. The motorbike and the two ended up inside the Corolla. Firefighters from Negril Fire Station had to cut off the top of the car to remove the three persons from the vehicle.
They were taken to hospital where the three were pronounced dead.
The Green Island police, who are carrying out the investigations, say speeding and improper overtaking were the main contributing factors to the accident.
