Disturbing gun trade
The Editor, Sir:

I am at the point of being ashamed of my dear homeland Jamaica, for despite its almost indescribable physical beauty, there is fear of what it is becoming.

There are beautiful rivers and beaches, mountains and valleys, flowers and fruits, tranquility and calm in the air as the gentle wind passes by. What a wonderful place it is; but just as your heart is filled with exuberance and peace, it is also filled with sadness and fear.My fear is that Jamaica is being destroyed by greed and corruption. Even though I am not old, I did not think I would see the day that so many Jamaicans don't respect, care about or appreciate our beautiful island.

I cannot imagine why Jamaicans would go through the hassle to obtain guns from Haiti to bring to their country knowing that the only purpose to have a gun is to rob and kill. Who are these people getting these guns? The Government of Jamaica needs to do something. We cannot continue to deal with this shame and embarrassment much longer.

I am, etc.,
