Leave our Bajan men alone
I am an upset Barbadian woman because of the number of Jamaican women who pounce on our Bajan men. Ordinarily, these women refer to our men as "small island" men, yet through their scheming and bossiness expect to settle down and marry one of them.
I sound frustrated because I am. Women in Barbados were not raised to be so aggressive and, therefore, lose our men to these pushy women.
My question is: What is wrong with your Jamaican men that the women do not want them? Why come to our tiny 'likkle' island and steal hard-working, peace-loving, giving men? Somewhere in that sentence must be the answer.
Please leave our men alone. We want ours!

It is apparent that the Budget presented by Audley Shaw was a "hurry-up" Budget with very little thought, for how in the middle of a recession plus inflation (fuelled by a devaluing dollar) and salary freeze can the Government now ask "we, the people" to find more money for these higher/new taxes?
From what source must we now acquire these new funds? Shaw and his colleagues may be living in a financial bubble but "we, the people" are suffering. This "hurry-up" Budget needs to be reviewed. Common sense would dictate that if your revenue has fallen so should your expenditure!
I am confident that if you should go through the Budget "with a fine-toothed comb" you will find lots of projects that can be modified or eliminated.

It is sad that the Golding administration continues to reduce the role of teachers to less than what they were employed to do, which is to teach. The prime minister needs to understand that teachers should not be seen as vendors. Teachers have to sell on a daily basis in order to make money to supplement the inadequate allowances provided by the Government.
The prime minister needs to be grateful for the tremendous work our teachers perform on a daily basis in conditions which are not very conducive to learning.
Teachers are not vendors, let alone higglers, so please do not ask them to sell computers.
