Stars pad up for Clarendon show

Freddie McGregor

Singer Freddie McGregor says the May 23 Rocksteady Meets Reggae and Dancehall show at the Jamalco Sports Club in Halse Hall, Clarendon was inspired by none other than Vybz Kartel.

McGregor said Kartel encouraged him to expand the concept of his popular Rocksteady Meets Reggae shows and include dancehall.

"That really struck a chord and it has come at the right time, because dancehall has grown to such a potent force," McGregor said.

The day-long event includes a 20-over a side cricket match featuring several artistes who are billed for the show. They include singer Wayne Marshall, deejay duo Captain Barkey and Wickerman, Beres Hammond and Dean Fraser.

Former West Indies stars Courtney Walsh, Curtley Ambrose and Brian Lara are also scheduled to to turn out for the match.
