Discipline is breaking down in every area of our society. It is, therefore, not surprising that this is also true in our driving habits. The report, 'Spike in road deaths this year', seems to confirm this. We are beset by drivers who disregard all road signs with impunity.
These drivers care little for their own safety or the safety of their passengers and certainly not the safety of pedestrians. They lack civility, basic decency and revel in their brutish coarseness. It is doubtful that many of these drivers possess valid drivers licences. I suspect that many of them are unable to read.
Most law-abiding road users can tell of a bad experience with these drivers. Unfortunately, there are not enough police patrols to curtail these road demons. The slaughter of human life on our roads will only get worse.
I am, etc.,
