Fun kids book ready for release
Carolien Aikman will this month launch her first book Prayers for School Days. The book will be launched under the theme 'Change Begins at Home - Pray with Your Kids'.

Mrs Aikman, a managing partner at the e-Biz Centre Limited (an International Courier Company), and Sunday school teacher at Webster Memorial Church, who completed her debut effort as a child author late last year, believes the book will impart some valuable life lessons through prayers.

"Prayers for School Days is a small part of my contribution to remind parents, and myself, to ground their children in the core Christian principles of love, forgiveness, courage, honesty and gratitude," she says.

Target market

The book targets children between three and eight years old at a time when many parents are being challenged more than ever before in caring for their children while trying to provide for them. The book, she says, will help ease that challenge. She said the book is meant to be co-read with a parent/guardian, as it creates opportunities for family discussion and devotional reflection.

"Isaiah 54 verse 13 which states, 'All your children shall be taught the way of the Lord and great shall be the peace of your children', is a daily reminder of the need for parents to secure the legacy they pass on to their children," says the mother of a three-year-old son, Joel. She is married to Bryan Aikman, a business consultant.

Positive reviews

So far the book has garnered positive reviews. Dr Anthony James Hall from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in his review of the book on Amazon.com, writes: "This book is a great way to teach young children their own prayers. The words will easily stick in the child's mind and the illustrations are cute and inviting to a child's eyes and imagination."

In addition to being available on Amazon.com, Prayers for School Days is also available at booksurge.com and at the e-Biz Centre Ltd located at 12-14 Worthington Terrace, Kingston 5.
