Joint leaders August Town and Cavalier will continue their heated battle for the Claro KSAFA Super League title in today's penultimate round of games.
August Town, who have a superior goal difference of plus 16 over their rivals, could virtually wrap up the title should they defeat ninth-place Duhaney Park at Baldwin Cresent and Cavalier lose against Constant Spring at the Constant Spring Football Field.
"If we want to win the league, we just have to win the last two games as we are well ahead on goal difference," said Calvert Fitzgerald, coach of August Town who are tied at 43 with Cavalier.
"We can't afford any more slip- ups," added Fitgerald, whose team lost 1-0 to Cavalier last week.
No panic in the team
He added: "Cavalier is breathing down our necks, but I don't detect any sort of panic in the team as we know we have the ability to win it and will win it. In fact, the defeat might be the tonic we needed to finish the season strongly."
Cavalier, in the meanwhile, will be hoping for a goal spree to try and bridge the gap, but even player-coach David Laylor, knows it will not be an easy task against Danny Lyn's men.
"It's a lot of work but anything is possible. The aim is not only to win the game, but how many goals we can stock up. It's going to be a challenge but we are up for the battle," said Laylor.
Two potentially enthralling clashes, the games are slated to begin at 3:30 p.m., the same as the league's other four match-ups.
Apart from the game at Buttercup Park between Real Mona and third-place Santos, which have an outside chance, others involve Mountain View, Police National and Liguanea United that are battling to avoid relegation.
Santos are three points off the leaders with 40 and must win their remaining fixtures to keep their hopes alive.
