Watch out for him on the road. He is easily and immediately identified by his extremely dangerous, inconsiderate, contemptuous, stupid and illegal driving habits.
These taxi drivers zoom down, following one after another in the wrong lane as if they are turning right (King's House intersection is one example) which they have no intention of doing, and then cut across waiting traffic and end up in front of those cars in the middle lane at the intersection to go straight because they cannot wait in line like everyone else, and they do this on a frequent and increasingly successful basis. Police have to stop this behaviour now.
Restrictions for taxi drivers
Coming down Hope Road, intending to turn right on Waterloo Road, they drive down in the middle lane as if they are going straight, and then try to cut into the right-turning lane at the last moment before the intersection. This behaviour is not restricted to taxi drivers (although they are, without question, the No. 1 culprits) but is a common practice with many other motorists, along with the numerous, traffic-stopping and dangerously illegal U-turns by motorists that wish to go back and turn left on King's Way. This takes place at this Hope and Waterloo road junction every day.
The taxi man does not care about his own, his passengers', or your safety as another driver, pedestrians' safety or any rules of the road. He is beyond the law, and he is seemingly a part of a privileged and untouchable group of taxi drivers who all make, and diligently follow, their own self-serving rules:
Rule No. 1 - Get there first, no matter what.
Rule No. 2 - Do not drive in the correct lane, or you won't get there first.
Rule No. 3 - Other drivers are obstacles to be overcome.
Unfortunately a large number of our young people look up to and admire the taxi man's crazy, illegal and obnoxious driving and encourage him, thinking this behaviour to be bold and "dangerous" in an admirable way, according to the values that they have been taught by our damaged society.
Intervention and prosecution of these ubiquitous and aggressive offenders by the police is needed at once, before all hell breaks loose on our roads, and it actually gets worse than it is already.
