Marley hooks up with Snoop

Snoop Dogg

Stephen Marley has been added to the highly touted Blazed and Confused North American tour to be headlined by rapper Snoop Dogg. It also features veteran punk-reggae band Slightly Stoopid.

The tour is scheduled to start July 10 in Nevada. The trio will perform in major cities such as Denver, Portland (Oregon), Salt Lake City (Utah), Atlanta and Boston, where the tour ends on August 8.

Snoop, who came to prominence during the gangsta rap craze of the 1990s, has cited dancehall as an influence. In 2007, he recorded a remix of Traffic Jam, the lead single from Marley's Grammy-winning Mind Control album.

Slightly Stoopid hails from San Diego. Its sound strongly resembles that of other southern California bands like Sublime and Rancid, which have won over thousands of fans with their edgy ska sound.

Singer Cherine Anderson and Sly and Robbie toured with Slightly Stoopid in 2008.
