It will be a battle of the heavyweights in the final of the Inter-secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA) girl's football final when defending champions Lennon High School will tackle former champions Excelsior High School on Friday.
In yesterday's semi-final double-header at Spanish Town Prison Oval, Lennon High defeated St Jago High 1-0 in extra time, while Excelsior beat St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) 3-2.
Shanese Bowen scored the lone goal for Lennon in the 93rd minute.
Dicoda Evans (33rd), Alicia Chambers (49th) and Tiffany Robinson (60th) scored for Excelsior, while Carla Daniels (25th) and Shanice Thorpe (64th) netted for STETHS.
Merron Gordon, coach of Lennon High looks forward to retaining the title.
Worked hard
"Less than this would be an underachievement," Gordon said. "We worked so hard this year and I think the girls know they deserve to be in the finals."
Excelsior's coach, Xavier Gilbert, said: "We started out the game sluggish and took too long to get into the game," Gilbert said. "I am elated that the girls are in the finals."
