Leaders meet in crucial clash
Kwesi Mugisa, Staff Reporter

Leaders Portmore United, along with Harbour View, Tivoli Gardens and Boys' Town, will continue jostling for positions at the top of the table as the curtain comes down on the penultimate round of the Digicel Premier League (DPL) today.

Portmore United could make a huge stride in wrapping up the title race with a win over second-place Harbour View (60 points) at Ferdie Neita Park.

Chasing the leaders on 66 points, a loss for the Stars of the East could see their title hopes all but end.

Portmore hold the edge

Portmore hold the edge, having already beaten Harbour View once this season at Ferdie Neita Park and drawn the return fixture at the Harbour View Mini Stadium.

"We can't allow them to get away from us at this point, we have to cut the lead and the way to do that is to get all three points," said Harbour View's coach, Donovan Hayles.

"If we fail to do so, it won't be the end of the road by any means, but it will make our task that more difficult and we are looking to avoid that," he added.

Tivoli Gardens can exact some measure of payback for a 3-0 thrashing at the hands of Boys' Town in the Champions Cup KO final when they face the Red Brigade at Collie Smith Drive. The west Kingston team, should, however, receive a much-needed boost with the return of both midfielder Steve Green and striker Navion Boyd from suspension.

It will pretty much be a game of musical chairs for Waterhouse, Arnett and St Georges, all still having a chance to secure a place in the league's top six, with the league to be split in half for the fourth and final round.
