Kelly Rowland to perform at CFW

Rowland

R&B star Kelly Rowland will perform at the region's largest fashion extravaganza, Caribbean Fashionweek (CFW), which will be held from June 10-15 at the National Indoor Sports Centre.

The Grammy-winning songbird was confirmed this week by Pulse, producers and organisers of CFW.

Rowland, who is a founding member of multi-platinum selling group Destiny's Child, is also a successful solo artiste, selling more than four million albums worldwide. Her seductive collaboration with rapper Nelly on the global hit Dilemma, from her debut album Simply Deep, earned her her first solo Grammy and the distinction of becoming the first member of the girl group to have achieved a US number one single.

Strides in acting

In addition to her music career, Rowland has also made strides in acting, appearing in film and television productions, including the 2003 horror flick Freddy vs Jason, the 2004 romantic comedy The Seat Filler as well as several guest appearances on television series such as The Hughleys, American Dreams, Girlfriends and Eve. The singer is also set to venture in to reality television as she gets set to host a new series on the cable network Bravo called The Fashion Show, alongside acclaimed fashion designer Isaac Mizrahi.

Featured designers

Now in its ninth year, the 2009 CFW will feature the Caribbean's best designers, including Gavin Douglas from London, Catalin Bothezatu from Romania, along with Jamaica's urban maestro, Biggy, Sandra Kennedy and Trinidad's Meiling. Other standouts will include Jamaicans Mutamba, Barry Moncrieffe and Joy Bryce (based in Atlanta).

In 2008, CFW was attended by Hollywood actresses Nia Long and Vanessa Williams and R&B singer Mashonda, as well as powerhouse rapper and fashion designer Eve.
