Fewer exhibits were on display at this year's annual Jamaica Horticultural Society show at Hope Gardens, St Andrew, last weekend.
According to Marigold Harding, a judge at the event, the quality of exhibits were not in keeping with those of yesteryear.
"The standard has fallen," she said to Lifestyle in reference to the show which was held under the theme 'Nature's Harmony'.
The judge said that a lack of sponsorship could have been a contributing factor but added that the design section of the show was weak as well.
In her view, were it not for exhibitors Tropical Foliage and Nature's Paradise, the venue would have been almost empty.
Harding and Eunice Morrison are expected to leave the island this week for Washington, DC, to mount Jamaica's exhibit at the National Cathedral's Annual Mart.
The event will be open to the public on Saturday and Sunday under the theme, 'Jamaica, Land of Wood and Water.'
