Chefs fêted in Norway

Yes, it's as cold as it seems in Tromso, northern Norway. - photos by Robert Lalah/Staff Reporter

Joint first-place winners of the Seafood from Norway Culinary Challenge 2009, Colin Hylton of Guilt Trip and Anthony Miller of Couples Swept Away Negril, spent last week in Norway, in fulfilment of the grand prize they received from the Culinary Challenge, held in February.

The chefs were part of a group led by local public relations guru Jean Lowrie-Chin, managing director of PROComm, the organiser of the Culinary Challenge and representatives of the Norwegian Seafood Export Council in Jamaica.

Believe it or not, the group decided to have me tag along as well. Now, the trip was hectic, but was an experience none of us will soon forget. Here are just a few snapshots from the visit. Read the stories in next Tuesday's Roving with Lalah.

Brrrr...The group took a boat ride out on the northern Atlantic to see the cold, clean, clear waters of Norway up close.

Did you ever hear your grandma say that if you saw the head of saltfish you would stop eating it? Well, here it is. What do you think?

Better than Negril? You decide.
