Sloppy NWC work
The Editor, Sir:

I find performance of the National Water Commission's (NWC) performance to be quite disgusting after almost three weeks of inaction on its part to address the situation outlined below. Following a report by me that a water main had evidently broken and was leaking in front of my house on Hope Boulevard, immediately opposite the intersection with South Monterey Drive, action was very promptly taken to do repairs within two days. However, the main was very close to a utility pole and JPS had to come and deal with some resulting problems which caused power outages for a few hours on each of the two days.

Pole leaning

After the work was finished, the sidewalk where the work was done and the road in front of it was left strewn with debris and the utility pole was left leaning threateningly. I have reported the matter to the NWC with no result but must no doubt accept blame for not having recognised " my de facto responsibility" to advise JPS of the situation re their pole until today.

As I have been told by others that this is typical of the way the NWC performs, I consider it helpful to publicise the matter even as I again attempt to get the commission to respond.

I am, etc.,

JOHN A. MAXWELL
