When you're part of a successful group of companies, you've got to pull your weight or get left behind.
Hi-Lo Food Stores, a member of the GraceKennedy Group, is more than doing its part to make it one of the island's best. Managers and staff came out on Wednesday evening to celebrate at the annual awards dinner at the Knutsford Court Hotel.
The was no paucity of praise for the Hi-Lo team, which has helped turn around an entity that, at times, has struggled to compete with other franchises. This is a special year for the chain as well, since it marks the 25th anniversary of being incorporated in the GraceKennedy Group. A video presentation showed not only the 'highs' and 'lows' of the 25 years since joining GK, but also the origins of Hi-Lo in 1954 when it was started by Neal and Massey.
Employees were honoured
Employees were honoured for between 10 to 20 years of service. Special awards included the General Manager's Award and the Store Manager of the Year Award. Maria Myrie and Harold Davis proved a great tag team with various renditions including: Turn Your Lights Down Low and Take My Love Forever.
