Commendable Gleaner action
The Editor, Sir:

We wish to commend The Gleaner on its recent positive approach to headlining the news.

We are delighted that The Gleaner has decided to use its considerable influence to re-direct the attention of its public towards what is good about our beloved country.

The effect of this 'turn of events' has begun to be noticed in many ways, as many have commented on it.

National consciousness

The potential for greater good, however, is in our view far reaching and likely to have a profound impact on our national conscious-ness, beginning with that of your readers.

Research has shown that people are likely to come to believe what they are repeatedly told by others and to act upon that belief.

This is equally true for positive, affirmative opinions as it is for negative.

Therefore, it is our expectation, that should The Gleaner continue this positive trend, more Jamaicans will come to recognise what is worthy within themselves and within our people and begin to act on that belief.

We are, etc.,
