KC old boys give back to teachers
Teachers at Kingston College on Monday received a well deserved early Teachers' Day gift when they were presented with a cheque valued at $300,000 from the school's Old Boys' Association.

The amount will go towards the postgraduate education of three teachers who will be selected by a committee.

Audley Hewitt, president of the Miami Chapter of the KC Old Boys' Association, said this week's grant was the first part of what is to be a continual programme for teachers at KC.

The association is hoping to make annual contributions to the school towards the postgraduate education of teachers at the institution. Each year, a special committee will select three teachers to benefit from the programme.

The teachers will be bonded to the school for three years after they have completed their studies at a local university of their choice.

"We want to make sure that we give back to the teachers what we have received from them, because, without them, many of us would not be where we are today," Hewitt said. "We are praying that other past students' associations will follow suit and implement a similar programme to assist teachers in improving themselves. What we're hoping is that the quality of teachers will improve."
