ON HIJACKING
Shari says:
Based on what I have read about this young man, Stephen Fray, he should have been getting psychiatric treatment. Unfortunately, there are many ticking time bombs like him around the world, but some do get the attention they need. People with schizoid behaviour are not to be cursed and abandoned, but rather hauled into a medical institution for evaluation, treatment and monitoring.
Assuming that he had no ticket or boarding pass and, to cap it all, he was able to get by with an undetected firearm, it is obvious that there was a lapse in security. Bells and whistles should have gone off before he got on the aircraft. I hope that this one-of-a-kind incident (on Jamaican soil) will not tarnish the country's image.
ON GAYS
JamaicanAbroad says:
Where does the buck stop? If homosexuals should be allowed to be homosexuals, then people should be allowed to not like homosexuality. If homosexuals should have their freedom, then people should have the freedom to say they don't like homosexuality.
Who was the one that came up with, 'Let's fight discrimination against gays with discrimination'. What a brilliant idea!
ON SQUATTERS
Tieso says:
All squatters should be forcibly removed from their captured lands and be made to fend for themselves. They have got too used to handouts from politicians and must be made to feel how the rest of us have to work hard to afford land, make mortgage payments. Why should they be allowed to capture land and face no consequences?
ON THE BUDGET
Jerry says:
In just 18 months our country is plunged into at least a $7-billion loss from the hurried E10 venture. Yes, in just 18 months.
As a result, I can imagine the prices of the fuel at the pumps are being doctored over a period of time because the prices on the international markets have dipped too low, below the cost of production of the E10 in real terms. That is, the price of the E10 has to look good with the other fuel prices.
