Jamaica's swimmers won four more medals, two silver and two bronze on Saturday night's penultimate day of competition in Aruba to bring their tally for the Carifta Swimming Championships to 26.
Danielle Boothe's quest for gold was dashed when she finished second in both her events. In the 11-12 girls' 200 metres individual medley, she clocked 2:31.99 to set a new national age group record behind Barbados' Zabrina Holder who clocked a meet record 2:31.57. Trinidad and Tobago garnered eight gold medals on Saturday and are poised to top the championships.Paced by a double triumph by their 11-12 age-group star Dylan Carter, T&T's swimmers - for the third evening in a row - posted more victories than any other outfit at the Roly Bisslik Olympic Pool.
Carter beefed up his gold medal tally by six in landing the 200 metres individual medley and the 100-metre freestyle, while helping to push T&T's gold medal tally so far at the meet to 23, 10 more than Guadeloupe and The Bahamas with 13 each, followed by Barbados with nine gold medals.
First gold medal
Carter picked up his first gold medal Saturday evening by winning the 200m individual medley in two minutes 23.88 seconds, easily topping Aruba's Jordy Groters (2:25.96).
In the 100m freestyle, Carter, who had struck triple gold Friday night, was also unchallenged as he splashed to a 56.11 clocking, again chased by Groters (58.76).
Prolific Kimberlee John Williams and Christian Homer were also among the winners for T&T on the penultimate evening of competition.
Williams lifted her gold medal log to five by landing the 13-14 girls' 100-metre freestyle in 1:00.38, defeating Martinique's Rebecca de Rogatis (1:01.06).
Homer was in a class by himself in the 15-17 boys' 15-17 200m individual medley, scoring in 2:09.21 with Guadeloupe's Theo Estasse a distant second in 2:13.28.
