Amy's is the nation's leading source of natural and organic convenience foods. The market for organic foods is among the fastest-growing grocery categories, with sales expanding at more than 10 per cent annually. Now celebrating its 20th year, Amy's is a family-owned and operated business based in Sonoma County, California. Its products are available nationally in natural foods stores, most supermarkets, select warehouse club stores, as well as internationally. In Jamaica, Amy's will be available at leading supermarkets including all MegaMart and Progressive outlets.
Now celebrating over 20 years in the business, Amy's offers frozen entrées, pot pies, whole meals, bowls, pizzas, burgers, snacks, pocket sandwiches, burritos and toaster pops. In July 1999, the company introduced a grocery line that now includes canned soups, beans and chilli, as well as jarred pasta sauces and salsas.
Many of the products are gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan or low-fat. Amy's has been introducing many of the best-selling products in a light-in-sodium version to aid those watching their sodium intake.
Amy's products contain:
Certified organic ingredients, including vegetables, grains and fruits grown without pesticides.
Fats used sparingly and selectively.
Dairy products made with pasteurised BST hormone-free milk and do not contain animal enzymes or rennet.
No meat, fish, poultry or eggs.
Amy's products are non-GMO and do not contain hydrogenated fats or oils.
Vegetarian diets and organic foods
If properly planned, vegetarian diets are healthy and can provide all the nutrients a person needs. As a group, vegetarians have:
Lower cholesterol levels.
Lower body mass indexes.
Less risk of dying from coronary artery disease (CAD).
Less risk of getting high blood pressure.
Less risk of getting prostate or colorectal cancer.
Less risk of getting type 2 diabetes.
Amy's is sensitive to the dietary needs and concerns of consumers, and understands that one in 25 persons in the United States suffers from a food allergy. While some common food allergies include dairy, soy and tree nuts, several others are on the rise, especially among young infants and children. Amy's understands that many of our customers follow special diets, whether for an allergy-related illness or just simply to live a healthier lifestyle and avoid chronic illnesses.
Amy's is organic
Food that is labelled 'organic' has been grown or raised without chemical fertilisers, pest killers (pesticides), weed killers or drugs. This means that farmers and ranchers who grow organic foods use only natural pest killers, such as plant oils, soap, fungus-eating bacteria or bugs that eat other bugs. Organic means:
Using only natural fertilisers.
Feeding animals only organic foods.
Not giving animals antibiotics or growth hormones.
Not using irradiation, which means using X-rays or other types of rays to kill pests, change the way plants grow, or keep produce from spoiling as fast.
