NOTE-WORTHY Save public sector jobs
Every public sector job is important and employees need to be given the opportunity to fulfil their needs, like paying their bills and buying food which is good for their health and so on.

An increase in food prices is not acceptable, nor is an increase in utility bills or GCT. The prime minister needs to rethink his plans. What Jamaicans need now is an increase in production.

This is what they should be driving - a campaign aimed at getting Jamaicans to be able to eat healthy. A healthy body equals a healthy mind and spirit.

The prime minister also needs to set the example and lead the Jamaican people to seek God first.

Demolition timing wrong, uncaring

There is every reason to believe that squatting is a sore problem in Jamaica, and from the last piece of information from the housing ministry, the situation is escalating.

I believe the families in Westmoreland whose houses were demolished should pay what is required under law, but to demolish their homes at this time was bad timing and down right uncaring.

These ills need to be corrected.

Minister of Housing Horace Chang's defence of the demolition was another insult to sensible Jamaicans.

An expensivenon-solution

I am baffled by the reports about the demolition of houses in Whitehouse, Westmoreland, and subsequent announcement of plans to relocate the residents, and hope that someone will explain.

These people whose houses were demolished were living there, and not paying their rent, so the authorities demolished their houses and now are seeking a place to relocate them?

Isn't that an expensive way to solve the situation?

Instead of paying money to demolish the houses and then rebuilding a house elsewhere, why not try to figure out why the rent was not being paid and help to cure that situation and leave the houses alone?
