John Mills secured a record 15th title as the 2009 Junior High School Athletics Championships ended at the National Stadium yesterday.

At the end of the three-day Championships, the Cross Road-based school tallied 537.5 points to beat nearest rivals Windward Road (320) by a city block.

John Mills, which closed the meet with victories in the 4x400m relays, topped both sections - the girls ending with 283 points to Windward Road's 132 and Louise Bennett Converley's 83.

Their boys team tallied 254.5 points to finish ahead of Windward Road (188) and Central Branch (135).

However, the performance which caught the eye of many was that of Central Branch's top Class Three sprinter, Rohan Walker, who recorded times of 11.66 seconds over the 100m - a time faster than athletes in all classes - and 24.19 seconds in the 200m.

Diana Cauldwell was John Mills' star sprinter. She won the Class One sprint double in 12.81 and 26.50, respectively.

Racquel Ricketts (13.14 and 27.12) and Brittney Mathews (12.94 and 27.26) took the Classes Two and Three 100 and 200 metres for John Mills, while Red Hills' Moesha Gilmore (13.60 and 27.70) claimed the Class Four sprint double.
