Buccaneers planning to shock Saints
Barbadian's Ryan Hinds and Kurt Wilkinson, Antiguan Runako Morton and Grenadians Andre Fletcher and Rawle Lewis, along with some of Jamaica's best players, will today and tomorrow parade their skills in the second staging of the Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) Super League.

Hinds will turn out for last year's surprise runners-up Trelawny Buccaneers, who will host defending champions St Catherine Saints at the Trelawny Multi-Purpose Stadium.

"They are the defending champions so we expect that they are going to come and play like true champions. But having said that, take nothing from us as we played a very good season last year where we surprised many and this year we want to do the same again," said Buccaneers coach, Phillip Service.

Outstanding contributions

In addition to Hinds, the Buccaneers will be be looking for outstanding contributions from Sergio Feede, a former Windward Islands youth player, and Lorenzo Ingram.

The Saints, who are favourites to retain the title, have several Jamaica senior players, including captain Tamar Lambert, hard-hitting opener Danza Hyatt, outstanding leg-spinners Gavin Wallace and Odean Brown, off-spinner Bevan Brown and fast bowler Andre Russell.

Bright start

"As usual, coming on to the start of a new season, you always want to try and get off to a bright start," said Saints coach, Ephraim McLeod.

In other matches, last season's third-place finishers Melbourne Kangaroos with Carlton Baugh Jr, will host Fletcher's Westmoreland Wanderers at Melbourne Oval.

Kingston Tigers, with Lewis in their squad, will host Manchester Lions at Sabina Park, as they seek to better their fifth-place finish from last season, while St Elizabeth Warriors, who finished third from bottom last season, will seek an ideal start when they entertain Hanover at Alpart.
