Tight race for Super League crown
Jermaine Lannaman, Gleaner Writer

Joint leaders August Town and Cavalier could turn the race for honours in the KSAFA Super League into a two-horse affair, with victories this weekend.

The championship, which is four rounds shy of completion, will see August Town on 39 points playing away to fourth-place Jamaica Defence Force, who are on 33 points.

"We will be playing a very, very, very crucial game and we'll be taking it at such," said August Town coach Calvert Fitzgerald, who will again look to striker Nicholas McCreath (11 goals) to lead from the front.

"If we win this game, it would go a long way in us securing the title as when two teams that are vying for the title win a match like this it's like getting that team out of the way."

Goal difference

Cavalier, who are tied on points with August Town - who have a game in hand and are second on goal difference - will entertain sixth-place Bull Bay, who have 27 points, at Constant Spring.

"The next four games are like finals for us and we will be treating them as such," said Cavalier coach, David Laylor. "The JDF will be a hard game, but we will be approaching it as such and if the spirits of the guys are anything to go by, I expect us to really perform."

The next big match-up of the round will see third-place Santos, who are three points off the leaders, hosting bottom-place Liguanea United at the Bell Chung Stadium, in a match they would want to win handsomely.

Contenders

Elsewhere, mid-table contenders Maverley/Hughenden will welcome Real Mona, Duhaney Park travel to Mountain View and Police National will host Constrant Spring.

In the Claro Major League action today, leaders Central Kingston, on 28 points, will seek to extend their lead when they host Molynes United, while second-place Rae Town (26) will travel to Swallowfield.

Barbican and Brown's Town are at home to Cooreville and Seaview Gardens, respectively, while Rockfort will journey to Meadforest. Olympic Gardens will entertain Port Royal in the other fixture at Cling Cling Oval.
